Burn Permits

The City of Columbia City is allowing open burning during a “Special” period to allow its citizens to deal with this winters debris.  Provided it is otherwise a burn day Columbia City residents may burn yard debris only from June 25th through June 30, 2008 during normal backyard burning hours.

The Cities of Columbia City and St. Helens have passed city ordinances that prohibit backyard burning except on allowable burn days in November and April.

Burn barrels are no longer allowed within the cities of Columbia City and St. Helens.

A burn permit is required for burning within these cities during these periods.

During the dry summer months backyard burning is banned.

Call 503-397-4800 for today’s backyard burning status.

When permitted burning hours are from 8:00 AM to Dusk.

All other areas in the Fire District may burn on permitted burn days with a valid burn permit. You may obtain a burn permit (free of charge) at the:

Administration building, or St. Helens, Fairgrounds, and Rainier Fire Stations OR click on the link below.
